Sang Lee, MD FACS FAAP

Sang Lee is a Pediatric Surgeon at California Pediatric Surgical Group in Santa Barbara and two Ventura offices. He has practiced as a Pediatric Surgeon for all of his professional career, though he’s certified in both Pediatric General/Thoracic Surgery and adult General Surgery. His areas of expertise include pediatric surgical oncology, advanced minimally invasive surgery, and neonatal surgery.

Dr. Lee was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated with honors from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.

He completed all of his surgical training at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, with an internship and residency in General Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and a research fellowship and Pediatric Surgery fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.

After completing his training, Dr. Lee joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Pediatric Surgery. He also held numerous local titles, including physician service leader for Pediatric Surgery, inpatient medical director of the North Carolina Children’s Hospital surgical floor, and the director of the surgical skills program in the General Surgery residency.

Dr. Lee served on a number of national committees, as well, including the Rare Tumors committee in the Children’s Oncology Group, the Education and Program committees of the Surgical Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Industry Advisory committee of the American Pediatric Surgical Association. He’s also published over 30 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals on topics ranging from Pediatric Surgery to basic science in surgical nutrition.
